Edutainment startup Jeel Platform raises US$1.2m seed round to strengthening its technical capabilities

EGYPT – Jeel Platform, a promising edutainment startup, has finished a seed funding round with a US$1.2 million seed fund from Kuwaiti and Jordanian angel investors, besides acquiring high-quality animation series, songs, and games to be added to its library.

The company plans to use the seed fund in strengthening its technical capabilities, offering more services and content, and expanding its team.

The platform, which was founded in the United States by Ahmed Sobaih in 2019 and has offices in Riyadh and Cairo.

Jeel Platform is an edutainment digital platform that provides children with exclusive and safe edutainment series, shows, songs, stories, and games.

“Jeel Platform is stepping forward steadily with clear vision and strategy and this step pushes it towards our next milestone. We plan to launch more products and services soon, as a part of our expansion strategy” CEO, Ahmed Sobaih, said.

The team behind the platform consists of more than 60 full-time professionals and experts, besides more than 150 part-time and freelance creatives, and the number is rising as the startup grows.

The company’s main project is Jeel App, a mobile application for children aged between 3 to 9 years old, with access for parents to control tools and rich parenting content.  The application is created upon an educational and psychological criterium that highlights values and ethics, under the supervision of parenting specialists.

“We all aim for the sky since we are working with passion on a promising platform that creates a unique, fun environment that gathers parents and children. The platform witnesses a great growth potential, especially with the unpreceded demand on the digital entertaining and educational services due to the Covid-19 pandemic,” the platform’s Advisory Board Member, Ahmed Rashed, said.

Jeel App, the company’s main initiative, is a mobile application for children aged 3 to 9 years old that includes parental control tools and a wealth of parenting content. Under the guidance of parenting experts, the application is built on an educational and psychological criterion that emphasizes values and ethics.
