EGYPT – Egypt has launched the “Digital Future” initiative with the aim of boosting digital technology uptake among medium and small companies in Egypt.

Egypt’s Minister of Public Business Sector Hesham Tawfik, witnessed the launch of the “Digital Future” initiative which aims to enable medium and small companies in Egypt to cope with the digital transformation.

According to a report by Egypt Today, the Digital Future initiative was launched by the Federation of Egyptian Chambers of Commerce (FEDCOC) in cooperation with the Ministry of Public Business Sector.

The Digital Future initiative also received support from tech giant Microsoft and and Egypt’s Fiber Misr Systems.

Minister of Public Business Sector Hesham Tawfik while presiding over the launch, pointed out that the cooperation between his ministry and the FEDCOC in the “Digital Future” initiative represents a first precedent in transferring the experiences of the public business sector to private sector companies.

Prior to the Launch, Egypts Ministry of Public Business Sector had successfully implemented a digital transformation project in its subsidiaries.

The digital transformation project included more than 20 contracts with international and local companies to implement it.

Tawfik explained that the digital transformation program was kickstarted last year when the ministry oversaw the preparation of digital policies and procedures.

This according to Tawfik was followed by the applications of corporate resource planning and management (ERP) with investments of $50 million for licenses and services, a process which was completed in January this year.

The project would also feature a data center and technical support at a cost of $ 3 million annually, and finally a training program to develop competencies in managing the system.

The Digital Future program follows an earlier agreement between the Ministry of Public Business Sector and the Cairo Chamber of Commerce to transfer the ministry’s experience in the field of digital transformation.

This cooperation agreement will enable the Cairo Chamber of Commerce  provide SMEs and startups with digital transformation services at the lowest price possible.

To further guarantee the success of the program, the  Ministry of Public Business Sector has negotiated with international companies to provide the best technology for interested SMEs and Startups in Morocco.

The “Digital Future” is the first initiative of its kind focused on small and medium-sized companies in Egypt.

It provides this growing segment of the business sector in Egypt with professional planning and organization services for institutional resources.
