EGYPT – Egyptian Global Logistics (EGL), subsidiary of Kadmar Group for logistics services, has said that it has completed the Cairo West power station project.

The project included the installation of a 650-megawatt (MW) steam thermal power plant which was later interconnected with the National Unified Power System (NUPS) through a 500/220 kilovolt (KV) geographic information system (GIS) switchyard.

The company revealed that that the Cairo West Power station project features a power block that is comprised of one Rankine cycle sub-critical turbine generator unit with a nominal rated capacity of 650 MW using natural gas instead of heavy fuel.

Additionally, the company said that it has also completed the delivery of accessories and containers to the project site and that it had completed the arrangement of all types of clearance formalities including getting approvals from the relevant authorities to clear containers in the port

The Cairo West Power Station project is located about 258 km from the port of Alexandria on the west bank of the Nile river.

The company noted that although the project involved a quite challenging operation scheme, the team on the ground was able to execute it effectively despite difficult conditions experienced.

The company highlighted the difficulty experienced in discharging of four transformers and accessories as one of the many challenges that it faced.

EGL dispatched a team was comprised of thirty-six staff members including engineers, technicians, administrators, safety officers, escort staff, drivers, mechanics, electricians, riggers, and custom clearing staff.

EGL, a subsidiary of KADMAR GROUP is considered the largest assets based fourth party logistics in Egypt.

It owns the newest fleet of modular trailers, telescopic trailers, low bed trailers, normal trailers in the market, as well as jacking system, port storage, intermediate storage, stevedoring, and installation with its own staff and equipment (hydraulic lifts, hydraulic jacks, and skidding frames).
