KENYA – Equity Afia has opened two new medical centers in Kakamega and Meru Counties, bringing the total number of clinics within its franchise network to 15. The two medical centers are set to target a population of 3.4 million within the two counties.

Equity Afia is an initiative under the Equity Group Foundation that is using franchising principles to train and monitor a network of medical entrepreneurs, who are qualified alumni of the Equity Leaders Program (ELP).

The main goal is to ensure a sustained improvement of the health and well-being of Kenyans by increasing access to and utilization of quality, affordable and standardized healthcare

In line with the Universal Health Coverage goals, the Equity Afia medical centers have been established with the sole purpose of increasing access to quality healthcare services by offering quality and standardized services at affordable costs.

Commenting on the opening of the two facilities, Equity Group Foundation Executive Director, Reuben Mbindu, expressed Equity Afia’s commitment to transforming lives and enabling Kenyans to lead productive lives through providing access to inclusive quality healthcare services.

“We are keen on ensuring that all Kenyans enjoy access to quality medical outpatient and referral services. Our clinics are NHIF accredited and we also accept a large number of insurance cards as well as out of pocket payment. This diversity allows Kenyans from all walks of life to enjoy access to quality treatment with ease and at affordable costs,” said Mr. Mbindu.

Currently, Equity Afia operates 15 medical centers in 7 counties and has plans to venture into other regions as the year progresses.

“At Equity Afia, we believe that by improving access to high quality and standardized healthcare, we will enhance the quality of life and contribute to a healthier future. So far, our medical centers have recorded a total of 190,000 outpatient visits,” added Mbindu.

In Kakamega, the Equity Afia medical center is located at Walia Business Center, along the Kisumu-Kakamega Highway; while in Meru, residents can find the Equity Afia medical center along the Meru-Maua road, near Meru School towards Makutano.
