Florence Ohene appointed IBM Ghana General Manager to drive up sales and operations

GHANA – American multinational technology company, IBM (International Business Machines Corporation) has appointed Florence Ohene as the Country Manager for IBM Ghana.

A report by Ghana Web indicated that, in her new role, MS. Ohene will be responsible for IBM Sales, Marketing, Services and Global Delivery Operations in Ghana.

IBM Ghana is part of IBM’s Middle East and Africa market and reports to the Regional Head, Angela Kyerematen-Jimoh.

Ms. Florence Ohene brings to this role more than 20 years of local and international experience in the IT industry.

She is respected for driving transformation, leading teams, developing markets and supporting clients across multiple industries.

Before joining IBM, Ms. Ohene was the Regional Head of Sales for Vodacom Business Africa’s operations in Ghana and Francophone markets.

In prior roles, Ms. Ohene served as Business Director for Publicis Groupe Africa where she was responsible for the West Africa market, and as Business Development Manager, at Bell Canada.

She is also the Founder and Managing Director of ABC Ghana Ltd., a start-up company focused on developing business cases for emerging solutions in Ghana.

Commenting on the appointment, Ms. Angela Kyerematen-Jimoh, Regional Head for IBM North, East and West Africa said, “We are excited to have Florence leading the IBM Ghana team.

 “I am certain she will diligently serve our clients and Business Partners as we continue to expand IBM’s footprint in the market,” Ms. Kyerematen-Jimoh added.

Ms. Ohene holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business and Society from York University, Toronto, Canada.

Earlier this month, IBM Ghana partnered with The Hacklab Foundation, organisers of Ghana’s largest annual hackathon, have partnered with technology company, to introduce an online educational campaign in the wake of COVID-19.

The goal of the campaign according to a report by My Joy Online was to help the Ghanaian student and working executive to gain skills necessary for their professional growth.

IBM produces and sells computer hardware, middleware and software, and provides hosting and consulting services in areas ranging from mainframe computers to nanotechnology.

The company’s Ghana operations were significantly scaled up in 2010 when it launched an official corporate subsidiary in Accra, the capital of Ghana, as part of its increasing focus on Africa as a destination for its tech, consulting, and business services.
