MOROCCO – Sealynx Automotive Morocco, a subsidiary of French automotive company, Sealynx International (GMD group) has inaugurated a new production unit specialized in the manufacture of automotive gaskets in Tangier.
The new US$24 million production unit is spread over an area of 12,600 square meters and comes with the ambition of providing more than 180 direct jobs.
Morocco’s Minister of Trade and Industry Moulay Hafid Elalamy during the plant’s inaugration said that the plant comes to meet the “strong demand of the Moroccan automotive ecosystem whose performance is well established.”
Elalamy attended the inauguration ceremony along with the chairman of the Supervisory Board of the Tangier Mediterranean Special Agency, Fouad Brini, and the President of Sealynx International (GMD Group), Alain Martineau.
“We are aware that car manufacturers need a significant local integration rate,” Elalamy said.
President of Sealynx International, Mr Martineau also commented on the inauguration of the fifth unit saying that the move“confirms the pioneering role of the group by being the first supplier of automotive gaskets in Morocco.”
The automotive industry recorded the strongest job creation thanks to growing interest by car and airplane manufacturers to set up operations in the count.
Several international leading companies in the industry operate in Morocco including Renault and PSA.
