KENYA – South Africa’s online home services platform, SweepSouth has launched its platform SweepSouth Connect in Kenya.

SweepSouth expanded to Kenya at the beginning of 2020 and started by providing home cleaning services from vetted, experienced professionals. Following their growth in Kenya, they added outdoor cleaning to their list of services in late 2021.

Now SweepSouth is introducing SweepSouth Connect so Kenyans don’t have to worry about that leaking pipe or a short circuit. They can simply find a professional through the SweepSouth Connect app.

“This is an exciting step for SweepSouth in Kenya. We initially entered the market with home cleaning services but quickly saw a need for outdoor services as well, which we already had in South Africa,” Aisha Pandor, SweepSouth’s CEO and Co-founder said.

“With the addition of SweepSouth Connect, we intend to provide reliable home maintenance services to all our customers, while still keeping our strict vetting procedures. This will ensure that all our clients are assured of the highest quality of service.”

Pandor also added that Connect allows the service providers to choose their hours, tasks and operating areas that they would like to perform, granting them flexibility. Meanwhile, the customer gets quotes from multiple professionals so that they end up with the provider who best suits their needs.

“We have experienced amazing growth in Kenya with our home cleaning services and more recently, outdoor. We look forward to growing SweepSouth Connect in the same way, so that Kenyans don’t have to be disappointed by unreliable service providers,” said Alisha R, SweepSouth Kenya’s Country Manager.

Connect is rolling out across Nairobi City and currently has plumbers, electricians and handymen who are available in Dagoretti, Embakasi, Westlands, Kasarani, Njiru, Langata, CBD, Madaraka with new services and estates being added every day.

In December last year, SweepSouth expanded to Egypt with the acquisition of Fiikhedma. Filkhedma is Egypt’s leading home services marketplace operating across three regions on the continent and serving tens of thousands of customers with cleaning, maintenance, and beauty services, while empowering over 2 000 service providers through technology with consistent incomes and professional development.

The acquisition meant that SweepSouth was one of the few African start-ups operating in the continent’s four key tech ecosystems of South Africa, Egypt, Kenya, and Nigeria.

It also meant that all markets would have access to new services almost immediately, while the company as a whole will be primed for further expansion into other parts of Africa and the Middle East.

For South Africa, the biggest change will be the imminent rollout of beauty services. This will include manicures and pedicures, hair care and makeup services that can be done at home.

This not only gives SweepSouth customers access to more services, but it also gives entrepreneurs in the field the opportunity to list on the platform. This, in turn, allows access to a larger pool of potential customers.

For Egypt, the company will benefit from SweepSouth’s technology, as well as the indoor and outdoor home cleaning services already available in South Africa, Kenya and Nigeria.
