MOROCCO – Royal Air Maroc (RAM), Morocco’s national carrier has officially announced that its direct Casablanca-Bejing air route will open next year on January 16.
In a statement issued in September this year, Royal Air Maroc said that for the first time, there will be a direct flight between Morocco and China.
Beijing and Morocco are estimated to be about 6,273 hours apart and the direct flight between the two cities is expected to reduce travel time to just about 13 hours.
RAM will deploy its B787-9 Dreamliner for the flight between the two cities. The aircraft has a capacity of 302 seats, including 26 in business class.
Statement from RAM indicate that the airline plans to fly to Beijing three times a week.
Flights from Casablanca will be scheduled every Monday, Thursday, and Saturday at 17:00 p.m. local time.
Those leaving Beijing will be scheduled every Tuesday, Friday, and Sunday at 13:55 p.m.
Royal Air Maroc Chief Executive Officer Hamod Addou said that his company is “proud to offer its passengers the possibility of direct flights between Morocco and China.”
He further added that the new Casablanca-Beijing route will “enable us to respond to a strong need expressed by business operators from the two countries.”
Mr. Addou also added the direct flights to Beijing will contribute in further strengthening trade and economic cooperation between Morocco and China.”
Royal Air Maroc operates direct air links between Morocco and four other countries in the Asian continent in this case Saudi Arabia, Lebanon, Qatar, and Jordan.
The national carrier which uses the Casablanca international airport as its main hub also flies to other destinations which include Boston, Miami, Montreal, New York, and Washington.
The airline with about 55 planes now flies to over 94 destinations located in over 49 territories globally.
It has also announced plans to join the oneworld alliance of airlines in 2020 and this will improve the airlines ability to efficiently service the Beijing and other long-haul routes.
