KENYA – Swedish audio streaming and media services provider, Spotify has embarked on a sweeping expansion that will introduce the world’s most popular audio streaming subscription service available to more than a billion people in Kenya and more than 80 new markets around the world.

It will also add 36 languages to their platform, the firm said after formally announcing on its Stream On event.

The company said it will introduce free and premium plans across all the markets.

However, in select markets, it will offer Individual, Family, Duo, and Student Plan options.

The new markets will include countries in Africa, Asia, Eastern Europe, Latin America, and South America.

“Together these markets represent more than a billion people, with nearly half of them already using the internet, some of the places we’re going like Bangladesh, Pakistan and Nigeria, have the fastest growing internet populations in the world,” said Chief Premium Business Officer Alex Norstrom.

Spotify is a Swedish audio streaming and media services provider, launched in October 2008.

The platform is owned by Spotify AB, a publicly traded company on the New York Stock Exchange since 2018 through its holding company Spotify Technology S.A. based in Luxembourg.
