LIBERIA – United Bank for Africa (UBA) Liberia Limited in partnership with Orange has launched the Mobile Money Push and Pull Service for customers of both entities.

The service, known as Bank to Wallet will enable UBA customers to deposit or withdraw money from their accounts to their Orange Money Wallet and vice versa.

The service will also allow customers to do bank account balance inquiry and check their last 5 bank transactions.

UBA Managing Director Mr. Olalekan Balogun while speaking at the event expressed satisfaction with the partnership and urged customers of both entities to take advantage of such digital platforms to bring efficiency to their day to day lives.

Balogun further noted that the partnership between his bank and Orange was important to the nation as it was playing a role in supporting the Central Bank of Liberia’s vision of financial inclusion.

To have access to the platform and to conduct self-services, all customers will need to firstly register on Orange Money before proceeding to any of UBA Business Offices in Liberia to link both their UBA Account and Orange Money Wallet Account.

The Head of Marketing and Corporate Communication of UBA Liberia, Melody Mezay-Ketter assured Liberians that staff at both UBA and Orange were ready to begin such digital banking revolution in Liberia.

She stated that the launch of the Bank to wallet platform signifies a significant milestone for all UBA Customers which also supports UBA digital transformation agenda.

For the first three months, the service will be free of charges for all customers with a minimum fee of $0.50 per transaction after said period.

Officials from the Central Bank of Liberia who graced the event expressed their gratitude to both UBA and Orange Liberia for coming up with such a partnership which will bring relieve to all Liberians.

UBA Liberia is a subsidiary of UBA Africa Plc, a Nigeria based pan African bank offering universal banking to more than 17 million customers across 1000 branches in 20 African countries.

UBA (Liberia) Ltd. was incorporated as a private limited liability company on October 10, 2006 and was granted a full banking license by the Central Bank of Liberia on July 17, 2008.

The bank opened its first business office at the Freeport, Bushrod Island on July 18, 2008 and is at present, the leader in the Digital banking space in Liberia  having launched various digital products including local currency ATM machines, Visa prepaid cards, MasterCard, among others.
