GHANA – Vanguard Life Assurance Company Limited, has appointed Mr George Addison as the new Managing Director (MD) of the company.
Mr. Addison comes to the position with an impressive over 20 years’ experience in the insurance industry, 12 years of which has been in leadership and senior management positions
He has previously held senior positions in underwriting, marketing, business and products development and general management.
Prior to his appointment at Vanguard Assurance, he was serving as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Old Mutual Life Assurance
He therefore joins Vanguard Life with diverse knowledge and experience in insurance and pension’s management, strategy and finance, risk management and corporate governance having also served as a Managing Director of StarLife Assurance.
Mr Addison is said to have started his professional journey in insurance at Vanguard Assurance and worked there for about 10 years before leaving for other assignments.
“To him, this is a homecoming and his major strategic goal as he rejoins Vanguard Life is to assist in the transformation of the business,” read part of the statement issued by the insurance firm in September this year.
According to the statement, “Mr Addison’s unique mix of strategic vision, deep level of focus, emotional intelligence, results-oriented attitude, passion, leadership skills and discipline combined with his intimate understanding of the insurance industry make him the right person to lead Vanguard Life.”
Mr Addison in his inaugural speech said that company’s tradition must continue and Vanguard Life’s focus would be to re-enact and re-energise the vision of the forebears in growing our own talents for the industry.
Mr Addison is a Chartered Insurer of the Chartered Insurance Institute (CII) of the United Kingdom (UK).
He holds an Executive Master of Business Administration (EMBA), Finance option and a Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Administration from the University of Ghana, Legon.
He is the author of “Standing Out” – a book on personal leadership for young executives who aspire to be at the top rung of the corporate ladder.
Vanguard Life Assurance is one of the oldest insurance companies in Ghana having been established in 1974.
The company which at its onset was offering insurance for Life and Fire only has Over the years, diversified its product portfolio into one-stop composite insurance company underwriting all the major classes of Life and Non-Life insurance.
